THE WEEKEND AT BARNSLEY CIVIC: A Show to Help Children Overcome Their Fear of the Dark!

Writer: Phoebe RichardsonPhoebe Richardson

Get ready for a fun-filled night at "Dance in the Dark," a sleepover party happening at

Barnsley Civic this week!

This event is perfect for kids aged 3-6 and their grown-ups, so grab your favourite PJs and prepare for a magical evening. The atmosphere will no doubt be cozy as families settle into a giant sleepover den, filled with dance, live music, and lots of laughter.

This unique show has been crafted over two years in collaboration with primary schools and Children's Centres across the West Midlands. It is designed to create a playful environment that sparks children's imaginations while supporting their development.

The experience aligns with the Early Year’s Foundation (EYFS) framework, ensuring that

kids not only have fun but also learn and grow in a safe space. One of the coolest aspects of "Dance in the Dark" is how it addresses common childhood fears of the dark. Instead of being scary, the darkness becomes an exciting adventure!

As the lights dim, children will be introduced to friendly nocturnal creatures, making it a delightful experience that turns bedtime routines into a whimsical journey.

Parents can feel at ease knowing that this event is all about fostering creativity and exploration in a calming atmosphere. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity for families to bond while enjoying a day of entertainment together.

Tickets will be available from only £7 from

Don’t miss out on this enchanting afternoon on March (1pm) 9th 2025 at Barnsley Civic
